This policy explains how the Android app Intervally handles information and how to contact its developer about privacy.

In short

Intervally works without an account. Your timers are stored on your device, not on a server operated by the developer. The app has no advertising, analytics or automatic crash-reporting service. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising or profiling.

Android may back up selected app data depending on your device, backup provider and system settings. Opening this privacy policy in your browser or contacting us by email involves the external services described below.

Information stored on your device

Intervally stores the information needed to configure and run your timers:

You choose the names and other timer settings. A name may contain personal information if you enter it. You do not need to enter your real name or other identifying information to use the app.

These records are stored in the app's private storage. They are used to display, run, pause and restore timers and apply your preferences. The developer does not receive these records automatically. Intervally does not request access to your contacts, location, microphone, camera or health records.

Notifications, signals and background operation

Intervally uses Android notifications and foreground services to show timer progress and support timer operation when the app is not visible. It uses sound, vibration and wake-lock functionality for timer signals and finish alarms. These functions do not upload timer information to the developer.

Timer information can appear in notifications. Displaying timer and phase names on the lock screen is an optional app setting; remaining-time information can still be visible. Android settings also affect visibility. People who can view your device may be able to see displayed information.

You can change app preferences and notification permissions in the app and Android settings. Disabling background updates or notifications can limit background operation and alerts. Android permission approval is a device-level control, not permission to use your information for unrelated purposes.

Android backup and device transfer

When enabled and supported by your Android setup, Android backup or device transfer may copy your timer definitions, phase configuration and selected preferences. Timer and phase names, technical identifiers and definition timestamps are included in those definitions.

The app's backup export excludes current timer runs and temporary background-runtime or notification-action state. Restored definitions do not automatically restart a timer.

Backup and transfer are handled by Android and your configured provider, which may be Google or your device manufacturer. They are not an Intervally cloud-sync service, and the developer cannot access your backup through the app. Availability, storage location, protection and retention depend on your system and provider. Manage backup copies through their settings and consult their privacy information, including Google's privacy policy where applicable.

Diagnostics and support

The app may write technical diagnostic messages to Android's local system logs. Intervally has no service that automatically sends these logs or crash reports to the developer.

If you contact us, we receive your email address and the contents and attachments you choose to send. Screenshots or logs can contain timer names or other personal information; remove information you do not want to share. We use correspondence to answer your request and investigate reported problems.

We use Google's personal Gmail service, not Google Workspace, to receive and respond to support email. Google therefore processes correspondence sent to our support address. Your own email provider also processes messages you send. See Google's privacy policy for information about its processing, retention and international transfers. This does not give Google access to timer records stored only inside the app; it concerns information you choose to include in correspondence.

Support correspondence is retained while needed to resolve your request and handle necessary follow-up, then deleted unless a legal obligation or a justified need to establish, exercise or defend legal claims requires further retention.

Visiting this privacy-policy website

This privacy-policy website is hosted using GitHub Pages. Visiting it sends your IP address and ordinary web-request information to GitHub. GitHub states that it logs and stores visitors' IP addresses for security purposes, whether or not they are signed in. See GitHub Pages data collection and GitHub's privacy statement.

This page has no developer-added analytics, advertising, tracking scripts, embedded third-party media or external fonts. Opening it does not send your timer records to the website. The app opens privacy links in an external application rather than an embedded app browser.

External providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Their privacy notices describe their processing, retention and applicable international-transfer safeguards. The developer does not otherwise operate an overseas service receiving your timer records.

Purposes and legal bases

Where personal data is involved and the GDPR applies, processing necessary to provide the timer functions you request is based on Article 6(1)(b). Handling general support inquiries and maintaining a secure, available privacy-information page is based on Article 6(1)(f), with the legitimate interests of answering inquiries and providing reliable information. Necessary processing to meet applicable legal obligations is based on Article 6(1)(c).

These bases concern the developer's processing. Android backup, email and website providers may have their own responsibilities and legal bases described in their notices. We do not carry out automated decision-making or profiling with legal or similarly significant effects.

Retention and deletion

Local timer definitions remain until you delete them or clear the app's storage. Resetting a run removes its run state, not its timer definition. Preferences remain until changed or the app's storage is cleared. Uninstalling normally removes local app storage, but Android backup copies may remain and may restore selected information after reinstallation.

Use the app to delete individual timers or Android's app-storage settings to remove all local app data. Manage any backup copies separately through your backup provider. There is no Intervally account or developer-held cloud copy of your timers to delete. The developer cannot retrieve local timer records from your device.

Your rights

Where applicable, you have rights to access, correct or erase personal data, restrict processing and receive portable data. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests. If processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent without affecting prior lawful processing. You may also complain to a competent data-protection supervisory authority.

Contact the email address above to exercise rights concerning information held by the developer, such as support correspondence. For information held independently by external providers, contact those providers as appropriate. Providing support information is voluntary; without enough information, we may be unable to answer a particular request.

Changes

We will update this policy when app functionality or data-handling practices change. The date above identifies the latest version.
